A Summer Celebration of Colour, Character & Storytelling
Join Richmond Orchestra for a thrilling summer concert packed with vivid colours, unforgettable characters and brilliant orchestral storytelling.
We begin with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a musical journey through a gallery of imagined artworks, brought spectacularly to life through the orchestra’s rich palette of sound. From grand processions to whimsical scenes, it’s a work full of personality, drama and sheer musical imagination.
Next comes Prokofiev’s wonderfully witty Lieutenant Kijé, a sparkling suite filled with memorable melodies, humour and cinematic flair. Originally written for film, its vivid orchestration and mischievous spirit make it an irresistible orchestral favourite.
We round off the concert with Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling The Golden Cockerel (Le Coq d’or) — a riot of colour, exotic atmosphere and sumptuous orchestral brilliance. Expect glittering textures, dramatic storytelling and a spectacular finale.
